Cape Town’s most intimate boutique electronic music venue, TAU, is proud to present Kid Fonque performing for one night only this coming Friday evening (9 November 2018) at the Mother City’s popular upmarket venue located in the heart of the De Waterkant party scene.
Kid Fonque has established himself as a vital part of the South African electronic music and club culture over the last 20 years as a DJ, amongst his many other accomplishments and hats he wears, and has recently become part of pop culture after joining 5FM as one of their most influential radio hosts.
Says Candice Heyns, director of TAU, and a famed DJ in her own right: “Kid Fonque’s talent is the type that refuses to acknowledge boundaries of any kind – be they genres or borders. The respect he is paid by the industry is a result of his no compromise attitude to playing and making music. Rather than following trends, Kid Fonque has always done things his own way. Importantly, every record he reaches for bares all the hallmarks of the Kid Fonque sound – a golden thread that ties all his sets together somehow. This is yet another evening at TAU that simply cannot be missed and we’re incredibly proud to bring Kid Fonque to Cape Town!”
Kid Fonque will also be supported Friday evening with a talented lineup, including Miss Slow (Candice Heyns), DJ Low and MKLY.
Kid Fonque embraces everything from Bass and Broken Beats to Bossa Nova, Hip Hop and every shade of House. He has been deconstructing dance floors locally and abroad for well over a decade, including performances in Hong Kong, Dubai, the UK and Switzerland, to name but a few.
Furthermore, Kid Fonque recently started his own radio show called ‘Selective Styles’ on South Africa’s national radio station, 5FM. ‘Selective Styles’ has provided him with the platform to showcase the hidden talent from all over South Africa’s electronic music scene. Playing House, Soul & Hip Hop from the local community, he also delves into international releases weekly.
Tickets for Friday night’s performance at TAU (30 Napier Street) is available at the door at R80 for those who arrive before midnight and R100 thereafter. A variety of drinks (2 for the price of 1) will also be on special.
