Top tips for making the most of this year’s Nampo Harvest Day

This year Grain SA will host the 53rd Nampo Harvest Day from 14 to 17 May at Nampo Park outside Bothaville in the Free State. Nampo is an exhibition platform that showcases the latest agricultural technology.

There will be 775 exhibitors at this year’s event including 50 international exhibitors from the likes of France, the UK, the USA, Canada, Brazil, Italy and Argentina. To ensure visitors make the most of their visit to Nampo Harvest Day, Hinterland – one of the exhibitors at the event – has put together a couple of top tips to remember.

“Everyone at Hinterland is extremely excited to be part of this year’s Nampo Harvest Day. We’re looking forward to seeing some familiar and new faces at the Hinterland exhibition space. Visit the Hinterland stall and register at our online store, shop.hinterland.co.za, to stand a chance to win a Basecamp hamper worth R10 000,” says Marlene Momberg, public relations and event coordinator at Hinterland.

Gates open at 07:00 and close at 17:00. Be sure to arrive early to avoid the heavy inflow of traffic and try to leave the showgrounds before 17:00 if you don’t want to get stuck on your way out. There will be thousands of cars in the parking area, so be sure to make a mental note of where you parked your car.

The Nampo showgrounds are very large and you’ll be doing a lot of walking to visit all of the exhibitions. Remember to wear comfortable shoes, put on some sunscreen and wear a hat to protect yourself from the sun. It is also important to stay hydrated so don’t skimp on the fluids.

There will be ATMs at the event and most exhibitors will also have card facilities, but please remember to bring some cash to avoid long queues at the ATMs – especially as some of the smaller food stalls often don’t have card facilities.

Tickets can be bought online at www.ticketpros.co.za and is R90 per day for Tuesday and Friday, and R100 per day for Wednesday and Thursday.
